Job summary

H2ajobs seeks a farmhand to provide winter care for cattle, including breaking ice in tanks, moving snow, and warming calves. The role involves operating trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed and forage, maintaining animal records, and inspecting livestock for health issues.

Responsibilities also include administering medications as needed, transferring livestock, inspecting and repairing equipment, and ensuring corrals are clean.

Qualifications

• One (1) month of recent and verifiable experience required.
• Must be able to obtain appropriate driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
• Able to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Random drug test may be required after hire at no cost to worker.
• Positive test or non-compliance may lead to termination.

• Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed, grain, forage to cattle in the feedlot
• Maintain records on animals
• Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries
• Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate
• Transfer livestock from one location to another
• Inspect, maintain, prepare, weld, and repair equipment
• Check cows and calves daily to monitor for hypothermia (body temperature under 100 degrees) and provide colostrum as necessary
• Clean corrals
• Push, pile, and spread manure which won’t decompose in cold winter temperatures.
• Speak and understand English.
