Job description

Workers will perform winter livestock care duties during December through March, when freezing temperatures, snow, and ice increase the labor required to care for the employer’s cattle. Duties include removing accumulated snow from livestock areas and access routes needed to reach and care for cattle; breaking and removing ice from livestock water troughs; thawing frozen livestock water lines and checking water flow to maintain drinking water availability; removing wet or frozen bedding and replacing it with dry bedding to protect cattle from winter conditions; and delivering and distributing supplements to cattle during the winter. Workers will check livestock throughout the workday and repeat these tasks as conditions require. Workers will use appropriate farm tools and equipment to carry out these winter livestock-care activities. Must speak and understand English.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

One (1) month of recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
