Job summary

H2A Jobs is seeking a farm worker in the United States to precondition and maintain cattle, feed livestock, and assist with general farm operations. Responsibilities include monitoring calvings, haying, feeding, vaccinating, rotating pastures, and basic equipment maintenance.

Housing and meals provided; transportation arrangements may be included. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to work in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• 3 months experience in farming or livestock care

• Proof of legal work authorization in the United States within 3 days of hire
• Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as described

Responsibilities

• Precondition and maintain cattle: monitor birthing calves, hay cattle, mix feed, monitor health, vaccinate, rotate pastures
• Operate feed truck/pay loader; clean pens; maintain fences; manure pumping/hauling
• Haul cattle or pigs to customers/market; perform general machinery maintenance and basic vehicle upkeep
• Ground maintenance around farm/housing: weed eating, mowing; maintain/clean shop area

Job description

Precondition and maintain cattle: Monitor birthing of baby calves, hay all cattle, mix feed, monitor health, vaccinate, rotate cattle between pastures. Operate feed truck/pay loader. Clean pens. Maintain fence. Manure pumping and hauling. Hauling cattle and/or pigs to customers and to market. Maintain/repair machinery, i.e. change fluids in equipment, rotate tires, wash vehicles, change brakes, check tire pressure, general maintenance, etc. Ground maintenance on farm and/or housing, i.e. weed eating, mowing. Maintain/clean shop area.

Meals:

The employer will furnish cooking facilities, utilities, and utensils for workers to prepare their own meals in the housing provided kitchen. Included basic appliances will consist of, but is not limited to, refrigerator, stove/oven, and sink with hot and cold-water connections. All appliances included will be in good, working condition for the workers. Employer will provide transportation to grocery store at least once a week for workers who wish to shop for food.

Transport:

The employer will provide or pay for charter bus services or other modes of transportation to H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved in traveling (a) to the place of employment from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer (i.e., inbound) and (b) from the pl... Experience wanted:

Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 50lbs; may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment. Variable weather conditions may apply. Bonus potential based on work performance at the sole discretion of the employer. Employees are expected to keep employer provided vehicles clean and free of trash. Workers may not post or remove notices, signs, or other instructions from the employers bulletin boards or the employers property without specific authorization from the
