Job summary

Market Umbrella is seeking a part-time Market Coordinator to support the Crescent City Farmers Market operations in New Orleans. The role handles day-to-day market activities, reports to the Market Manager, and collaborates with the Director of Markets.

The position requires evenings and weekends, rain or shine outdoor market work, and the ability to lift 40+ pounds. Prior experience in retail, customer service, or food systems is valued.

Qualifications

• College degree or current student, or relevant work experience in retail, customer service, public health, food service, social work, or related field.
• Strong cash handling accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and operate weekly farmers markets.
• Assist with market prep, setup, and breakdown (rain or shine).
• Provide welcoming, informative customer service at the welcome tent and assist shoppers and vendors.
