Job summary

Hickman's Family Farms is seeking a Special Projects Specialist to coordinate a variety of projects across the site, including construction, facility upgrades, and equipment installations.

You will provide hands-on labor, tools operation, and project management support while collaborating with Maintenance, Operations, and Logistics to meet milestones and stay within safety and biosecurity requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction, maintenance, or a similar role.
• Basic knowledge of construction practices, mechanical hand tools, and equipment operation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues during project execution.
• Able to work in physically demanding environments with standing, bending and lifting.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities with clear communication.
• Familiarity with safety regulations in construction/agriculture settings.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and executing special projects related to construction, upgrades, and operations.
• Provide hands-on labor and technical support, operating basic tools and equipment.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, and Logistics to meet timelines.
• Monitor progress, report milestones, and address delays or issues.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies, biosecurity protocols, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized worksite and safe handling of tools and materials.
• Assist sourcing materials and equipment and manage inventory needs.
• Conduct site inspections and develop work plans to meet specifications.
• Assist budgeting and cost management for projects and track expenses.
• Collaborate with external contractors or vendors when needed and support planning/reporting.
