About the Role

Our client, a leading agricultural technology provider, is seeking a specialized Farm Mechanization Specialist with expertise in water management systems to join their team in the **Western Cape**, near **Paarl**. This role is critical in advising farms on the selection, implementation, and optimization of advanced mechanization and irrigation technologies. You will work closely with farm managers and technical teams to ensure efficient water usage, enhance crop productivity, and promote sustainable farming practices through appropriate technology. The position involves a blend of on-site assessments and analysis, supported by remote consultation and reporting. Key Responsibilities

• Assess farm irrigation systems (e.g., drip, sprinkler, pivot) and provide recommendations for upgrades, improvements, and maintenance.

• Develop water management plans that optimize water use efficiency based on crop needs, soil type, and climate data.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of new irrigation and mechanization technologies.
• Provide technical training and support to farm staff on the operation and maintenance of mechanization and irrigation equipment.
• Analyze data from sensors, weather stations, and irrigation controllers to fine-tune water application and management strategies.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanization, Irrigation Technology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in farm mechanization, irrigation systems, and water management.
• Proven experience with various types of irrigation systems and farm machinery.
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, soil-water-plant relationships, and agricultural engineering principles.
• Familiarity with smart farming technologies, sensors, and data analysis related to water management.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and client-facing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly to farm sites in the **Paarl** area and surrounding regions.
