• Repair and maintenance on farms, farm equipment, facilities, ventilation and heating systems during winter and early spring.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair farm machinery and equipment used for winter operations.
• Replace worn or damaged components and maintain batteries and fluids to prevent cold-weather failures.
• Inspect and repair farm building ventilation systems, vents, openings, and related components to reduce drafts and heat loss.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair heating systems including boilers and forced-air systems to keep operations warm and functional.

Job Duties:The workers on this application will perform seasonal winter and early spring repair and maintenance on farms, farm equipment, facilities, ventilation systems, and heating systems to keep farm operations functional during cold weather. Duties include inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing farm machinery and equipment used for winter operations, including tractors, trucks, snowplows,; replacing worn or damaged components caused by cold-weather use; charging and jumpstarting batteries affected by cold weather; checking fluid levels; replacing filters to prevent fluid gelling, contamination, and cold-start failure in freezing temperatures; lubricating equipment to maintain proper function in low temperatures; and performing general mechanical repairs using hand tools, power tools, drills, and precision instruments. Workers will prepare and repair machinery and equipment for continued operation during snow, ice, and freezing conditions and perform preventative or emergency repairs as needed to keep winter operations running. Workers will also inspect and repair farm building ventilation systems, vents, openings, and related components, including sealing areas to reduce drafts and heat loss and repairing or replacing components damaged by freezing or winter conditions. Workers will inspect, maintain, and repair farm heating systems, including boilers, forced-air systems, and related equipment, and identify and correct mechanical or electrical problems to keep heating and ventilation systems operational throughout the winter and early spring seasons.
