Job summary

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle in North Carolina seeks a Farm Equipment and Facilities Coordinator II to implement and help design the farm's equipment, infrastructure, and grounds maintenance program. Our programs seek to support neighbors in our community for whom access to nutritious food is a barrier. We aim to alleviate that barrier by recovering and distributing food and resources to our various agency partners. As a result, our neighbors can access food at no cost at mobile markets and food pantries throughout our seven-county service area, including Wake, Durham, Johnston, Orange, Chatham, Nash, and Edgecombe counties.

We also recognize that simply putting food on the table is not enough. We aim to break the systemic cycle of food insecurity and empower our neighbors to meet their own food needs. Some of the ways we achieve this include culinary job training, beginner gardening, and teaching our neighbors to cook nutritious meals on a budget.

Job DescriptionThe Farm Equipment and Facilities Coordinator II is responsible for implementing and helping to design the equipment, infrastructure, and grounds maintenance program at the Food Shuttle Farm, ensuring that all tools, machinery, infrastructure, and grounds are maintained to standard and available to support production goals. In addition to hands-on maintenance and repair work, this position takes ownership of maintenance planning, recordkeeping, and vendor and repair coordination in collaboration with the Director of Agriculture and the Farm Manager. Occasional travel to other Food Shuttle sites and locations in our service area is required as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education in agriculture technology, engineering, or a relevant field required.
  • 3+ years of successful farm and/or mechanic experience required.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License and insurable driving record required.
