Job summary

Mesa County Department of Human Services is seeking a Family Time Specialist I for the Family Time Program in Grand Junction, CO. You will assess parent-child relationships, develop family time plans, and supervise visits to strengthen families and protect children.

The role requires a 21+ age, a valid driver’s license, and a background check, with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field. Expect driving between appointment locations and potential exposure to challenging situations.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 21 years old.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Background check is required.
• Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or related area.
• Some understanding of parent/child relationships.

Responsibilities

• Initiate the first contact between child and parents within 72 hours of removal.
• Schedule and supervise family visits until a contracted agency assumes supervision.
• Provide coaching to parents during family time to improve parenting skills.
• Observe and document interactions and report to the Social Caseworker.
• Terminate family time if child safety is compromised.
