Job summary

The Salvation Army in Augusta, GA is seeking a Full Time Regular Driver/Donor Loader to support donation pickups and delivery. You will work with the Dispatcher to plan efficient routes, lift and load items, and ensure receipts and donor relations are managed professionally.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, at least one year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, and a valid Driver’s License with current DOT clearance.

Job Location: GA-AGAC Augusta Family Store 1 - AUGUSTA, GA 30901, Position Type: Full Time Regular, Education Level: High School Diploma/GED, Salary Range: $14.00, Job Shift: Any, Job Category: Store, This position is responsible for:

Key Responsibilities

• Confers regularly with the Dispatcher to maintain awareness of scheduled pick-ups of donations in accordance with the established policy.
• Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location; Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption.
• Assists Truck Helper in lifting and stacking donations in the truck.
• Prepares donations receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same; Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army; Assist Truck Helper in unloading the truck at the warehouse.
• Delivers appliances and/or furniture as requested by customers

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions. Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck. Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (50-100+ lbs.) donations, i.e. furniture, appliances, etc. Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D., preferred but not required. One (1) year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van. Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
