Job summary

The Salvation Army Lafayette Family Store in Lafayette, LA seeks a Part Time Donations Driver to pick up donated items on a regular route, inspect items for acceptance, and assist with loading. Schedule is Monday–Friday 10:00am–3:30pm with a pay of $10.00 per hour and benefits.

Must have a valid driver’s license; capable of lifting 25–50 lbs; will issue donation receipts and help unload at the warehouse. This role supports the Salvation Army’s charitable mission.

Qualifications

• Six months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture.
• No formal education required.
• Valid Driver's License and eligible driver status under TSA Driver Program.

Responsibilities

• Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items; assists in navigating driver to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions.
• Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.
• Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety.
• Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
• Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.

This position is responsible for:

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Manual dexterity. Ability to sit, walk, and stand on a frequent change basis in order to perform the duties of this position. Ability to lift objects weighing between 25-50 lbs. Must be self-directed with ability to tolerate frequent interruptions.
