Job summary

The Virginia Department of Social Services seeks a Family Services Manager to supervise staff delivering foster care, family services, and related programs, ensuring quality and compliance.

You will lead staff development, monitor case management, and coordinate with agencies and the community to improve service delivery and outcomes.

This role requires strong leadership, policy interpretation, and experience in human services supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or Bachelor's with 2+ years in Human Services.
• Supervisory experience or work leadership role.
• BSW or MSW degree and VA Social Worker license desirable.
• Experience with VaCMS, OASIS, Safe Measures.
• Veteran and/or Disabled Veteran preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises social workers, assistants and others.
• Sets and enforces objectives for quality and quantity of work.
• Evaluates social service programs and program budgets.
• Recommends policy changes based on evaluation of program effectiveness.
• Deals with difficult or dangerous cases.
• Interprets the program to other agencies and to the public.
• Participates in community planning and development of new resources, jobs and community work sites.
