Job summary

The Virginia Department of Social Services seeks an experienced lead worker in Family Services to supervise staff, coordinate coverage, and provide expert guidance on complex cases.

You will perform case management, crisis intervention, and advocacy, review files, train staff and interns, and represent the agency in court when needed.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in human services, leadership experience, and a VA social work license is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field with 2+ years of related experience
• Leadership experience in a human services program area
• Desirable: BSW or MSW and Virginia Social Worker license

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial support to individuals and families
• Ensure reports of abuse/neglect are assigned to appropriate staff
• Supervise staff and provide back-up supervision
• Develop treatment plans and assess clients' needs
• Represent the agency in court when required
• Conduct staff training and supervision of interns
• Coordinate program functions and evaluate materials
