Job summary
Virginia Department of Social Services is seeking a Family Services Specialist II to develop and implement individualized service plans using casework methods in Employment Services, Child Care, and related areas. The role includes basic caseloads across Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Adoptions.
The position requires strong interviewing, counseling, and written communication skills, plus knowledge of laws and policies in human services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field with two years of related experience or equivalent.
- BSW/MSW desirable.
Responsibilities
- Interpret laws, policies and regulations as applied to specific area of responsibility.
- Coordinate and administer programs within assigned area.
- Interview and assess customer needs and other relevant factors such as education/skill levels and support systems.
- Present cases and write/implement service plans to determine appropriate services.
- Provide case management to monitor compliance and track program outcomes.
- Coordinate with other agencies and multi-disciplinary teams.
