Job summary

Addus Home Care is seeking a Family Service Specialist to support families through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, visitation, and housing supports. You will work in the home, teach essential skills, and help families comply with court-ordered services.

The role involves extensive travel for supervision visits, maintaining detailed reports, and coordinating housing and community resources.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Experience in social work or working with families preferred.
• Reliable automobile, valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance required.
• Must pass required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent permanent removal of children from home.
• Provide transportation for visitation as needed (travel may be extensive).
• Teach homemaking and parenting skills within the home.
• Monitor supervised and unsupervised visitations and provide redirection.
• Prepare and maintain written case records and progress reports.
• Submit monthly progress reports detailing services and outcomes; include goals and attendance.
• Report all child abuse and neglect.
• Attend mandated trainings.
• Assist housing program families by locating housing and supports for independence.
