Job summary

Addus Homecare in Illinois seeks a Family Service Specialist to assist families in crisis through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation and Housing. The role emphasizes teaching homemaking and parenting skills, conducting home visits, and documenting progress on a monthly basis.

The position offers a flexible schedule with both full-time and part-time options, mileage reimbursement, and direct deposit. Training is provided, and travel for visitation may be extensive.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience in social work, child care, or working with families is preferred.
• Must have a dependable automobile, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance.
• Must pass required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home.
• Provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation. Travel can be extensive.
• Teach homemaking skills, parenting skills, and anger management to families.
• Oversee supervised and unsupervised visitations, observing interactions and redirecting as needed.
• Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.
• Submit monthly client progress reports detailing service dates, goals, and outcomes.
• Report all child abuse and neglect.
• Attend mandated trainings.
• Help housing program participants find housing, jobs, and community supports.
