Job summary

Addus HomeCare seeks a Family Service Specialist to assist families in crisis through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation, and Housing. The role involves teaching homemaking and parenting skills, coordinating transportation for visits, and documenting progress with weekly and monthly reports.

The position offers full-time or part-time schedules with benefits, mileage reimbursement, and daily pay options.

Qualifications

• Experience in social work, child care, or working with families is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent permanent removal of children from home.
• Provide transportation for parents/children to supervised visitation; travel may be extensive.
• Teach homemaking and parenting skills, anger management, and use of community resources in home visits.
• Conduct supervised and unsupervised visits; observe interactions and provide redirection as needed.
• Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records; submit progress reports monthly with goals and service units.
• Report all child abuse and neglect and attend mandated trainings.
• Help housing program participants locate housing, jobs, and community supports.
