Job summary

Addus HomeCare seeks a Family Service Specialist to assist families in crisis via DCFS programs, providing in-home support, transportation for visits, and skills training. The role focuses on preventing child removal and improving family stability, with comprehensive documentation and reporting.

The position offers flexible schedules (full- and part-time), daily pay options, direct deposit, and mileage reimbursement, with a pay rate of $17 per hour. Training is provided on-site and in-service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience in social work, child care, or working with families preferred.
• Must have a dependable automobile, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home.
• Provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation. Travel can be extensive.
• Work directly with families in the home, teaching homemaking, parenting, and anger management skills.
• Supervised and unsupervised visitation; observe interactions and redirect if needed.
• Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records; submit monthly progress reports with details.
• Report all child abuse and neglect; attend mandated trainings.
• Help families in housing programs locate housing, jobs, and community supports for independent living.

Education
