Job summary

Addus Home Care seeks a Family Service Specialist to help families in crisis through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, visitation and housing. You will assist families in complying with court-ordered participation and provide essential in-home support.

Training is provided on-site and on-the-job. Responsibilities include coordinating transportation for visits, teaching parenting and homemaking skills, documenting progress, and reporting outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Experience in social work, child care, or working with families preferred.
• Must pass required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent permanent placement of children at home.
• Provide transportation for parent/child to supervised visitation; travel may be extensive.
• Teach homemaking, parenting and anger management, using available resources.
• Supervised and unsupervised visitations; monitor interactions and redirect as needed.
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
• Submit monthly progress reports with dates, goals and outcomes.
• Report all child abuse and neglect.
• Attend mandated trainings.
• In housing programs, locate housing, jobs and community supports.
