Job summary

Judson Center in Michigan seeks a Peer Recovery Coach with lived experience to support adults in outpatient settings and to be a key member of multidisciplinary teams. You will mentor clients toward recovery, document contacts, accompany families to court and meetings, and train DHS staff.

The role requires flexibility, strong communication, and commitment to reunification goals. Candidates must have recovery experience, be willing to obtain the state certification, and collaborate with care

Qualifications

• Personal experience with the child welfare system resulting in reunification with children.
• Minimum of two years in active recovery from substance use disorder.
• Actively parenting a child while in recovery.
• Application for the State of Michigan Peer Recovery Coach Certification Training within 60 days of hire.
• Have been reunited with child(ren) for at least one year; training may start after six months of reunification.
• Willingness to share experiences as a learning tool with others in child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Participates in initial training and required Peer Recovery Coach Training.
• Cultivates connections with adults served and mentors them in recovery and wellness.
• Provides training/education to DHS staff about the Peer Recovery Coach Program.
• Meet with referred parents weekly for two hours, in the family home when possible.
• Document monthly contacts and progress toward reunification goals; report findings.
• Accompanies parents to court proceedings and family team meetings to support and advocate for rights.
• Collaborates with Peer Recovery Coach team and other staff; attends mandated trainings.
