Job summary

ElevaCare is seeking a Family Peer Support Specialist to work with families of children facing mental health, behavioral, or emotional challenges in Worthington, MN. The role emphasizes shared lived experience to guide families through resources, services, and advocacy, strengthening their capacity to support their child’s well-being.

Responsibilities include group and individual support, collaboration with schools and providers, and maintaining compliant documentation within the funding

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience navigating children's mental health systems preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Certification as a mental health family peer specialist required.
• Must have raised or be currently raising a child with mental illness.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group peer support services to families.
• Share lived experience professionally to inspire hope and recovery.
• Assist families in understanding diagnoses, treatment options, and resources.
• Support goal setting and strategies to address challenges.
• Help families build self-advocacy and participate in meetings.
• Provide information and referrals to community resources.
• Navigate county, school, healthcare, child welfare, and other systems.
• Facilitate support groups and family engagement activities.
• Collaborate with treatment teams, schools, and providers.
• Maintain documentation per agency, state, and funding requirements.
• Participate in supervision, training, and professional development.
• Uphold confidentiality and professional boundaries.
