Job summary

Grand Strand Medical Center – HCA in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina seeks a Family Medicine Residency Program Director to lead the FM residency, oversee curriculum, and ensure accreditation. The role blends clinical, administrative, and teaching responsibilities with a focus on program excellence.

The candidate should have substantial GME administrative experience, scholarly activity, and strong leadership and interpersonal skills to guide residents and faculty toward superior educational outcomes.

Qualifications

• Board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
• At least three years of prior and relevant clinical activity in practice.
• At least three years of prior GME administrative experience and formal academic appointments.
• Documented scholarly activity within the past five academic years.
• Willing to combine clinical, administrative and teaching responsibilities.
• Strong administrative and team building skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Current unrestricted license to practice in South Carolina (or able to obtain).
• No history of license revocation or restrictions.
• Current, unrestricted DEA registration.

Responsibilities

• Authority and accountability for the operation of the Family Medicine residency program.
• Development of curriculum, policies, and procedures for the program.
• Maintaining ACGME accreditation and state approval.
• Recruiting residents into the program and developing evaluation process for performance.
• Participating in competency evaluations of residents.
• Oversee CCC, PEC, APE, milestones, case logs, and GME committee reporting.
• Faculty development and engagement, evaluation systems.
• Resident well-being, supervision, and learning environment.
• Quality improvement and patient safety integration and scholarly activity.
• Board pass performance and clinical competency outcomes.
