Job summary

Weber State University invites applications for a Family Literacy Facilitator position. This role works directly with parents and children to promote intergenerational literacy and parenting skills, with most participants coming from low-income backgrounds.

The role requires strong interpersonal abilities, comfort working with diverse populations, and willingness to engage families through home visits, assessments, and documented reporting. Off-campus work and schedule flexibility are expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
• Ability to work effectively with all populations.
• Preference given to those with experience with parents and children.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits.
• Teach assigned parents and engage parent and child in literacy and learning activities.
• Implement assigned literacy and parenting lessons during home visits.
• Communicate with supervisors.
• Conduct pre- and post- family literacy assessments.
• Maintain and keep current required documentation.
• Ensure flexibility in schedule in order to accommodate the family’s schedule for visits.
• Participate as an effective member of the Family Literacy Project team.
• Submit reports in a timely manner.
• Attend scheduled meetings and training.
• Other duties as assigned.
