The client is seeking a full-time Instructor for its Family Literacy Program. In this role, you will lead assigned family literacy classes and ensure high-quality instruction and support that advances student learning and helps learners meet their goals. The program primarily serves immigrant families in community locations, and the instructor will teach adult English language learning (ELL) classes at partner sites, provide parent education, and support interactive learning activities in collaboration with early childhood educators.
Key responsibilities include teaching assigned classes in designated locations with the possibility of in-person and/or remote instruction, providing student support and referrals to address barriers and transition needs, and arranging assessment and evaluation for students. You will create standards-aligned lesson plans and related materials for each class session and maintain required documentation in a centrally accessible system. You will also participate in professional development and ongoing training, collect and monitor student performance data (such as attendance, assessments, learning objectives, feedback, and outcomes), and support program compliance related to applicable state, federal, and grant requirements.
The position includes teamwork across internal committees and external partnerships, adherence to agency protocols for service delivery, and opportunities to provide local and regional leadership. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in education or a related field, and prior experience teaching adults is expected with experience teaching English language learners preferred. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with flexibility to adapt to changing needs. The role involves full-time work with some evening hours, occasional local travel using a personal vehicle, and physical ability to lift, pull, and push up to 40 pounds.
