Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP (GRSD) has an immediate opening for a full-time litigation paralegal position in our Roseland, NJ office. We are looking for candidates with at least four years of experience working with litigation, family, matrimonial, and divorce law practitioners in a New Jersey law firm or legal setting. Electronic filing processes in state and federal courts ('E-filing') are essential, as is e-discovery experience. Due to the nature of the workload, this position necessitates a physical office presence. If a hybrid work schedule is appropriate, it may be considered after 60 days of continuous employment.
Summary of Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal will support our practice attorneys at all stages of the litigation process. You will provide legal assistance in the preparation of cases from beginning to end, including research and analysis, drafting of papers such as statements of net worth, client affidavits, affirmations, and motions; assembling documents and exhibits for motions and trials; filing papers in court; assisting in the discovery process; writing correspondence; and engaging in other activities and administrative tasks associated with a busy family law practice.
- Assists attorneys with legal research, fact-finding, calendar management, and document and trial binder preparation.
- Prepares legal papers including letters, briefs, and pleadings for an attorney to study, approve, and use.
- Filing all court paperwork with the court clerk.
- Collaborate with attorneys to create legal documentation, pleadings, and communications, such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notifications, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits.
- Draft Case Information Statements and Child Support Standards.
- Manage attorneys' calendars, which include confirming and coordinating court appearances, meetings, and other events.
- Assist with court filings, motion preparation, and process server coordination.
- Prioritizing workload in accordance with deadlines and the ability to multitask.
- Manage a variety of administrative tasks, including the proper maintenance of electronic and paper files as needed.
Core Qualifications & Competencies:
- A bachelor's degree and paralegal certification are desired; however, equivalent experience may be considered.
- With at least four years of experience as a matrimonial/litigation paralegal in a New Jersey law firm, with a demonstrated grasp of difficult issues in the Litigation practice area.
- Proficient in E-filing and litigation support software
- Trial experience, including exhibit and witness preparation and management, knowledge of subpoena preparation, dealing with judicial assistants and trial presentation vendors, and aiding attorneys in court.
- Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite apps like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, as well as document management.
- Excellent client service abilities, as well as the ability to work on several issues at the same time in an organized manner with minimum supervision.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of staff, including management and support people.
- Proficient at drafting concise memoranda, detailed fact summaries, pleadings, and other documents.
- Flexibility and the ability to adjust rapidly and favorably to changing conditions.
- Position occasionally necessitates off-site work at a war room or the courthouse when the matter goes to trial.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
