Job summary

Exceptional Parents Unlimited (EPU) is seeking a program coordinator to advance department goals by delivering information, training and emotional support to families of children with unique needs. You will work with local programs to provide parent trainings and ensure access to educational services, while maintaining accurate contacts and records.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and knowledge of IDEA, ADA, and Lanterman Act.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Special Education or related field.
• 2+ years’ experience with families of children with unique needs and/or receiving special education services.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish or Hmong is a plus.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach activities and trainings to promote program services.
• Identify, schedule, organize and conduct training needs based on priorities and standards.
• Prepare all necessary presentation materials (PowerPoint, handouts, flyers, forms).
• Collaborate and plan outreach events within the service area and maintain a calendar.
• Develop and maintain a database of stakeholders and contacts.
• Provide high quality individualized support and resources to families needing assistance with special education and regional center services.
• Organize and lead support groups and caregiver activities as assigned.
• Develop and present training materials with emphasis on the parents’ perspective.
• Maintain knowledge of IDEA, ADA and Lanterman Act and related education laws.
