Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide interpersonal group and individual counseling to a cohort of 10-11th grade students.
  • Facilitate group counseling/workshops on academics, attendance, socio-emotional learning, career development, life skills, and enrichment.
  • Collaborate with school administration and counseling team to meet caseload needs.
  • Monitor attendance and academic progress of students on the caseload.
  • Coordinate event logistics including transportation and admissions.
  • Track academic and personal goals for positive graduation outcomes.
  • Maintain secure data collection and reporting practices.

Salary Range: $50.00 - $50.00 Hourly

Travel Percentage: Less than 10%

Job Shift: PT (8:00am - 1:00pm or 9:00am - 2:00pm)

Principal Duties
  • Recruit, interview, and conduct intake assessments of program participants.
  • Establish a rapport with participants: assist with the development of educational and career goals. Support in the formation of future plans.
  • Provide interpersonal group and individual counseling to a cohort of 10-11th grade students.
  • Facilitate group counseling/workshops on topics ranging from academics, attendance, socio-emotional learning, career development, life skills and student enrichment.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with BLS administration and counseling team to collaborate on ways to best meet the needs of the caseload.
  • Monitor and support with attendance and academic progress of students on the caseload.
  • Coordinate details of program events including transportation, refreshments, admissions, and any additional aspects of given events/programs.
  • Actively participate in and manage systems to track both academic and personal goals to ensure positive outcomes for program participants upon graduation.
  • Use effective and secure practices in data collection and management to contribute to accurate reporting and protect the confidentiality of staff and participants' information.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to school reform work, leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
  • Represent program to funders; meet all reporting requirements for funding sources.
  • Attend all required division and agency meetings.
  • Other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an educational, social service, or family support service setting.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work and interact effectively with a diverse community of stakeholders.
  • A self-starting team player with excellent organizational skills.
  • Familiar with the community and support agencies.
  • Experience with child development.
  • Experience working with families that have diverse cultures and economic backgrounds.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, SmartBoard, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships.
Work Environment

This position works in a school setting during the workday. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and standard equipment such as staplers, scissors and tape dispensers.

Supervision

Reports directly to the Community School Director.

Compensation

$50 per hour.

Work Hours

Schedule: 25 hours per week.
