Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) invites applications for a Part-time Family Development Coach at the Franklin K. Lane Campus with Brooklyn Lab School.

The role includes intake assessments, goal setting, and counseling for a caseload of 10–11th grade students. You will coordinate program events, monitor attendance and academics, collaborate with school staff, and contribute to data reporting while supporting families from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in educational, social service, or family support settings.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently as a team player.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Job description

With community residents leading the way, the mission of CHLDC is to build a strong, equitable East New York, where youth and adults achieve educational and economic success, secure and preserve affordable housing, and develop leadership skills to transform their lives and community. We actively promote policies that advance racial equity.Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) has an opening for one (1) Part-time Family Development Coach at the Franklin K. Lane Campus with Brooklyn Lab School.Principal Duties:Recruit, interview, and conduct intake assessments of program participants.Establish a rapport with participants: assist with the development of educational and career goals. Support in the formation of future plans.Provide interpersonal group and individual counseling to a cohort of 10-11th grade students.Facilitate group counseling/workshops on topics ranging from academics, attendance, socio-emotional learning, career development, life skills and student enrichment.Foster collaborative relationships with BLS administration and counseling team to collaborate on ways to best meet the needs of the caseload.Monitor and support with attendance and academic progress of students on the caseload.Coordinate details of program events including transportation, refreshments, admissions, and any additional aspects of given events/programs.Actively participate in and manage systems to track both academic and personal goals to ensure positive outcomes for program participants upon graduation.Use effective and secure practices in data collection and management to contribute to accurate reporting and protect the confidentiality of staff and participant’s information.Participate in ongoing professional development.Demonstrate a commitment to school reform work, leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.Represent program to funders; meet all reporting requirements for funding sources.Attend all required division and agency meetings.Other duties as requested.Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.Demonstrated experience working in an educational, social service, or family support service setting.Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work and interact effectively with a diverse community of stakeholders.A self-starting team player with excellent organizational skills.Familiar with the community and support agencies.Experience with child development.Experience working with families that have diverse cultures and economic backgrounds.Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, SmartBoard, and PowerPoint.Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships.Work Environment:This position works in a school setting during the workday.
