Job summary

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a not-for-profit community development organization serving 8,000 residents a year through a range of education and youth programs. We seek a program leader to design after-school and summer activities, hire and supervise staff, and engage families and schools in the process.

The role requires extensive experience with afterschool settings, supervision, administration, and a degree in Education or Social Work.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with afterschool/extracurricular settings with elementary school-aged youth.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Availability to work in-person between 10am-6pm during the school year and 8am-6pm during the summer.
• Bachelor in Education, Social Work, or related field.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

With community residents leading the way, the mission of Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation is to build a strong, sustainable Cypress Hills/East New York, where youth and adults achieve educational and economic success, secure healthy and affordable housing and develop leadership skills to transform their lives and community.

Principal Duties:

• Design and implement high-quality after-school and summer camp programming, incorporating Arts, Sports and Fitness, Recreation, Literacy, Academic Assistance, Social Emotional and Leadership Development.
• Hire, supervise, train and evaluate afterschool program staff.
• Conduct a weekly staff meeting.
• Recruit, enroll and retain students to meet and exceed the required enrollment and rate of participation expectation of our funders.
• Collect and maintain all required records.
• Plan and carry out family events and parent meetings.
• Assess and address the Individual and collective needs of students and parents, and solicit and respond to their input into the program.
• Build and maintain an effective partnership with the school Principal.
• Conduct monthly meetings.
• Develop positive relations with all stakeholders---school staff, building partners, parents.
• Serve as liaison to funders and regulators of programs.
• Maintain contractual and regulatory compliance.
• Participate fully in division-wide and agency-wide meetings and project teams.
• Manage budget and petty cash account.
• Use effective and secure practices in data collection and management to contribute to accurate reporting and protect the confidentiality of staff and participant information.
• Outreach is conducted to inform and educate neighborhood residents on CHLDC programs and services to optimize awareness within the community.
• Conduct yourself as a professional representative of Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation.
• Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
• Perform other duties as assigned as necessary for the success of the program.

Position Requirements:

• Extensive experience with afterschool/extracurricular settings with elementary school-aged young people.
• Experience with supervision of staff.
• Availability to work in-person between the hours of 10am -6pm during the school year and 8am - 6pm (8 hours shifts) during the summer.
• Demonstrated ability with administrative tasks.
• Should be enthusiastic and dedicated to the program's educational and youth development goals.
• Bachelor in Education, Social Work, or related fields required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Salary:

$63,500 - 74,000 annually.
