Job summary

Metz Middle School in Manassas, VA is seeking a Family Liaison to connect families with school and community resources. You will coordinate outreach, facilitate communications between families and staff, and plan programs that engage parents in student learning.

The role requires strong facilitation, organization, and the ability to work flexible hours. The liaison reports to the Principal/Assistant Principal, supports LEP families, and maintains records while ensuring timely information flow.

Qualifications

• Requires 2 years in family engagement, community engagement, or outreach programs.
• Education/experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in leading and facilitating adult learning.
• Literacy skills in native/heritage language and proficiency in all English skills.
• Fluency in a second language is required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates communication among families, community, and school staff.
• Provides MCPS information and resources to families.
• Directs families to MCPS and community resources for information and resolution of concerns.
• Develops strategies to facilitate school/community collaboration.
• Develops and coordinates programs to engage families and the community.
• Plans and delivers outreach programs, including consultations, meetings, and workshops.
• Schedules and manages parent activities; participates in community activities to maintain visibility.
• Maintains records and responds to inquiries (phone, email, in person).
• Interprets information as needed by faculty and parents.
