Job summary

The Family Case Manager at the Department of Child Services in Valparaiso, Indiana serves Porter County, protecting children from abuse and neglect while working to reunify families or establish permanent homes.

You will conduct home studies, assessments, coordinate with courts and agencies, and maintain case files. A degree is not required if 5+ years of related experience; associate degree with 2 years also acceptable.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years of human services job experience.
• Completion of thirty (30) college credit hours from an accredited institution with a minimum of four (4) years of human services job experience.
• A minimum of at least five (5) years of human services job experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate reported incidents of child abuse, neglect, or dependency and determine substantiation.
• Assess risk level and determine need for removal or protection of the child.
• Perform needs assessments to determine treatment options for families and children.
• Prepare reports and briefing documents for court and community teams.
