Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from your home office in Minnesota, certified Teachers will manage instructional programs. Through use of the telephone, Internet, and various curriculum tools, they will consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program.

The Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

• Complete all grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner;
• Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction;
• Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding (working directly with students and parents);
• Communicate with parents, students, and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, score assessments, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments, and coach special projects;
• Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure all students are successfully progressing, serve as a central contact for parents, and distribute tasks among staff;
• Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the entire K-12 curriculum and detailed knowledge of assigned courses;
• Support students and parents with alternative strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects;
• Maintain up-to-date student records and data, including files, online information, attendance, and contact logs;
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to develop enrichment activities and program modifications;
• Coordinate social activities and field trips, integrating them into the curriculum;
• Create and sustain a virtual school community;
• Participate in state testing organization and administration;
• Engage in student recruiting and marketing efforts;
• Coordinate with counselors and advisory teachers to ensure communication and progress tracking;
• Attend community events and field trips;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

  Requirements

  • Highly qualified and certified to teach Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) in Minnesota at the high school level;
  • Strong technology skills (Microsoft OS, MS Office, Google Suite);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Customer-focused approach;
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment;
  • Proven team player;
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and testing events, including overnight stays;
  • Ability to work some evening hours as needed;
  • Must be able to use personal electronic devices and email for 2-step authentication.
