Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a Childcare Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the church childcare or nursery program, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for children.

You will lead staff and volunteers, maintain staffing ratios, coordinate activities reflecting Catholic values, and ensure compliance with diocesan safety rules, background checks, and training while partnering with families.

Qualifications

• Experience in childcare, early childhood education, or youth ministry (required or preferred).
• Knowledge of child development and safety practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Must complete background checks and safe environment training as required by the diocese.
• Practicing Catholic or willingness to support Catholic teachings and mission (often preferred).
• CPR/First Aid certification (preferred or required depending on parish policy).

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the childcare/nursery program during church services, events, and activities.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all children.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that reflect Catholic values.
• Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise childcare workers and volunteers.
• Provide ongoing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
• Ensure all staff and volunteers meet diocesan safe environment requirements and background checks.
