The NYC Department of Social Services is hiring an Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist (ABOS) to operate as a Fair Hearing Service Specialist within the Fair Hearing Administration. You will resolve CA/SNAP/Medicaid actions through conferences and prepare evidence for hearings.

Responsibilities include advising clients on appeal rights, reviewing databases (FHEMS/WMS/POS/SEAMS), and coordinating with Job Center staff to complete required actions. Residency is not required.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree or four-year high school diploma with relevant social/human services experience.
• Knowledge of agency operations and NYS social service policy and procedures.
• Excellent communication and writing skills with analytical ability.

Mansioni

• Work with Cash Assistance recipients to resolve case actions regarding CA, SNAP and Medicaid.
• Conduct in person and telephone conferences to determine case resolution possibilities.
• Prepare electronic Fair Hearing evidence packets for OAH presentations.
• Advise clients about their rights to appeal adverse conference decisions.
• Monitor case queues and stay updated on agency policies and FHEMS system changes.
• Provide emergency coverage at other locations within the region as needed.

Four-year high school diploma + 3 years social/human services experience
