Job summary

Spirit Electronics in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to analyze microelectronics, PCBA, and semiconductor devices in its FA/DPA lab. You will collaborate with Technical Sales to understand customer requirements, provide quotes, and estimate timelines for work completion.

The role requires hands-on experience with failure analysis, teardown, DPA testing, and cross‑sectioning, with a focus on delivering accurate results and ensuring quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of semiconductor device analysis or failure analysis experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering or related field.
• Experience with DPA testing, tear-downs, and device analysis; knowledge of semiconductors and PCBA.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD standards for EEE components, especially MIL-STD-1580.
• Strong communication and ability to collaborate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Act as main contact for Technical Sales for RFQ, quotes, deliverables, and cycle time.
• Perform hands-on FA/DPA lab work: C-SAM, X-ray, decapsulation, cross-sectioning, SEM/EDS, and destruction testing.
• Manage lab resources to maximize utilization and timely completion of work orders.
• Track and expedite lab work orders to meet customer schedules.
• Analyze results and present conclusions with recommended follow-up actions.
• Create data packs, reports, and presentations for lab work orders.
• Coordinate with Quality to maintain SOPs and support AS9100/ISO9001 certifications and audits.
• Conduct FA lab tours and promote Spirit’s FA capabilities.
• Maintain lab equipment under preventive maintenance and calibration schedules.
