Job summary

Amphenol ICC in Nashua, NH is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to perform root-cause analysis of failed connectors and to develop a formal failure analysis process that captures historical data for future analyses. You will interface with customers to understand issues and inform them on status, root cause, and solutions.

In this role you will prepare test samples, collaborate with test lab technicians, and work with engineers across disciplines to drive corrective actions.

Qualifications

• BS/MS Mechanical Engineering required or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of experience with failure analysis and/or electrical connectors.
• Experience with solid modeling tools such as Pro/E and SolidWorks.
• Experience with data analysis software MS Excel and Minitab.
• Experience developing test plans for mechanical and environmental stresses.
• Experience specifying testing protocols in automotive or consumer industries.
• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics is a plus.
• Basic understanding of electrical connectors.

Responsibilities

• Perform root cause analysis of failed connectors.
• Create a failure analysis process and database to capture historical data for future analyses.
• Interface with customers to understand issues and inform them on status, root cause, and solution.
• Confirm diagnoses through testing and inspection.
• Prepare test samples and test requests and collaborate with test lab technicians.
• Suggest corrective actions to design, process, inspection, etc.
• Work with engineers from other disciplines to help with root cause.
• Process and analyze testing results and create reports for internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing personnel.
• Review 8D reports from suppliers.
