Job summary

Quinsigamond Community College is seeking a full-time faculty member for the EMS program in Worcester, MA to teach EMT Basic, Paramedic Certificate, and Paramedic associate degree courses and to coordinate clinical rotations.

The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical EMS experience and teaching background, engage diverse learners, and collaborate on curriculum development and program assessment with Workforce Development.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited institution.
• Current Massachusetts OEMS Paramedic certification in good standing.
• Minimum of four years' experience delivering out-of-hospital emergency care as a Registered Paramedic.
• Minimum of four years' experience teaching in a nationally accredited paramedic program.
• Experience coordinating clinical experiences for students.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom, laboratory, clinical and/or team-teaching instruction and facilitate learning.
• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise all clinical rotations for paramedic students.
• Collaborate with Workforce Development in offering EMT course including scheduling EMT instructors, organizing EMT syllabi and instructional time, and scheduling state exams.
• Act as the Liaison between the EMT program and the Program Director for the effective management of all aspects of the EMT Program in Workforce Development.
• Develop and/or revise instructional materials with other faculty members.
• Develop and apply instructional methods that inclusively engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
• Demonstrate professional EMS Paramedicine practice through teaching in classroom, lab, simulation lab, clinical and/or field internship settings.
• Develop and apply assessment strategies that equitably maximize learning outcomes.
• Participate in program development, implementation, and evaluation related to CoAEMSP, OEMS, and NREMT goals.
• Follow college policies for instruction and reporting.
• Work with faculty to develop new curriculum and review current curriculum with a focus on closing achievement gaps.
• Conduct academic and career advising and connect students to supports.
• Participate in college service activities that support the college's mission, values, and strategic plan.
• Embrace diversity and inclusiveness and advance equal rights for all students and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position facilitates learning for students enrolled in the EMT Basic, Paramedic Certificate, and Paramedic associate degree. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong paramedic clinical skills and academic experience in emergency medical services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate, schedule, and supervise all clinical rotations for paramedic students. This includes all of the required program time in the various, required subspecialties. Collaborate with Workforce Development in offering EMT course including scheduling EMT instructors, organizing EMT syllabi and instructional time, and working to schedule state exams. Act as the Liaison between the EMT program and the Program Director for the effective management of all aspects of the EMT Program in Workforce Development. Develop and/or revise instructional materials with other faculty members. Develop and apply instructional methods that inclusively engage students of varying learning styles and abilities. Demonstrate professional EMS Paramedicine practice through the ability to teach in the classroom, laboratory, simulation laboratory, clinical and/or field internship setting. Develop and apply assessment strategies that equitably maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes. Participate in the current development, implementation, and evaluation of the program as related to its CoAEMSP, OEMS, and NREMT's goals and objectives. Follow all college policies and procedures for conducting classroom instruction and for required reporting. Work collaboratively with faculty to develop new curriculum and to review current curriculum & programs with a lens toward closing achievement gaps. Conduct academic and career advising and connect students to academic and non-academic supports when appropriate. Participate in college service activities that support the college's mission, values, and strategic plan. Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Evidence of current Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services Paramedic certification in good standing. Minimum of four (4) years' experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care as a Registered Paramedic. Minimum of four (4) years' experience teaching in a nationally accredited paramedic program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor. Experience with coordinating, scheduling and monitoring clinical experiences for students. A substantial track record of clinical coordination with area healthcare facilities. Evidence of understanding methods of instruction, testing, evaluation of students. Evidence of understanding current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and about the evidenced-informed clinical practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Advanced experience as a CPR Instructor, ACLS instructor, PALS Instructor, PHTLS Instructor, NPR Instructor, Massachusetts OEMS Instructor/Coordinator. Demonstrated track record of innovation, non-traditional modes of instruction and instructional delivery, including team teaching across disciplines, and simulation. Demonstrated experience working with student retention initiatives. Strong evidence of passionate commitment to striving for excellence in working with students, faculty, and staff and in responding to opportunities that extend the Mission of the College. Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges, their students and philosophy. Evidence of understanding of and appreciation for diversity, equity, inclusion, and multiculturalism.
