  • Contribute to accreditation committees and processes.
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate curricula, including syllabi and outcomes.
  • Advise students and maintain office hours (6 contact hours/week).
  • Attend monthly unit meetings and participate in college committees.
  • Collaborate with clinical education partners for instruction and supervision.
  • Demonstrate nursing and teaching expertise with technology and simulation.
  • Engage in professional development and scholarly activities.
  • Teach online and/or blended courses as needed.

Description Summary

This position requires a strong commitment to teaching anddiversity while incorporating technology and innovation in thedelivery of instruction. The ability to infuse new approaches intothe teaching/learning process is essential. Candidates must be ableto work actively and collegially with faculty within and outside ofthe department. Faculty teach across medical surgical andspecialties in theory, lab and clinical in the Associate DegreeNursing Program. Other related faculty responsibilities may be performed as required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review and adhere to the policies, procedures and standards ofMorton College, the Nursing Program, Illinois Department ofFinancial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), and AccreditationCommission on Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN).
  • It is the professional responsibility of each faculty member tocontribute to and cooperate with the committees formed to insurethe continued accreditation of the college and program.
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate course curricula, including, butnot limited to, syllabi, student outcome measures, instructionalstrategies and course summaries for accreditation.
  • Serve students in an advisory manner.
  • Attend monthly unit meetings.
  • Contribute to and perform on college committees that benefitthe college and program.
  • Maintain office hours (6 contact hours per week).
  • Maintain, record and submit student grades.
  • Remain timely in regard to submission of paperwork.
  • Collaborate with clinical education partners in instructionaldelivery and supervision of student experiences in the clinicalsetting, including, but not limited to, orientation, adherence toagency policies/procedures, communication with members of thehealthcare team, student clinical evaluation.
  • Serve as professional role model and example of nurse leaderfor students, the College and its stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates nursing and teaching expertise, including the useof technology and simulation.
  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional development andscholarly activities.
  • Engage in community outreach activities.
  • Be willing to teach online and/or blended courses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Master of Science in Nursing; current Illinois Registered.Professional Nurse (RN) licensure; 2 years clinical nursingexperience with at least one year in area of specialty; strongfoundation in evidence-based teaching or clinical practice.Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction. Ability towork during the day and/or evenings. Ability to run simulation andexperience in operating high-fidelity and low-fidelitymannequins.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in English and Spanish; 1 year experience teaching;recent clinical nursing experience. Experience at a communitycollege. Experience in teaching online and/or using coursemanagement programs. Experience in course development andassessment, planning, quality, and accreditation process, andcommittee services. Experience with traditional and non-traditionalstudents from diverse backgrounds.
