Job summary

Georgetown University’s Law Center seeks a detail-oriented Administrative Support Assistant to back full-time law faculty. You’ll help with teaching, scholarly, and administrative tasks year-round, and partner with departments to ensure smooth operations.

Summer term adds coordination across offices to maintain continuity of faculty and student services. Strong communication, 2–4 years experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • 2-4 years experience in administrative support and/or customer service.
  • Experience with the practical application of routine office practices and techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working with a wide range of individuals.
  • Past experience with and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe.
  • Must possess the ability to gain proficiency with other office and campus technologies (including GMS/Workday, Concur, and Canvas).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate class materials and communications, including rosters, photo seating charts, syllabi, and presentation slides, and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration with A/V, IST, the Mail & Copy Center, external vendors, Event Services, Financial Affairs and Employment Services.
  • Assist with academic software management, including sending announcements, creating course modules, scheduling office hour appointments, and posting presentation materials.
  • Support faculty administrative needs by coordinating travel arrangements and reimbursements and partnering with the Employment Services Office to facilitate Faculty Research Assistant hiring and weekly timesheet management.
  • Collaborates with Law Center departments (such as Office of Academic Affairs, Admissions, Office of Graduate and International Programs, Office of Logistics) during the summer term to support fall semester planning and preparation for faculty and student needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Serves as a member of a collaborative team of assistants supporting the teaching, scholarly, and administrative work of full-time law faculty. Provides high-level professional and logistical support to assigned faculty members throughout the academic year, including assistance with teaching responsibilities, committee work, and research activities. During the summer term, partners with other Law Center academic offices to deliver coordinated administrative and operational support, ensuring continuity of faculty and student services.

Work Interactions

Faculty and Academic Support Assistants are expected to collaborate and communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders across the Law Center community, including faculty, students, staff, vendors, visitors, and the public, as well as with key Law Center offices such as Admissions, Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Graduate and International Programs, and the Registrar. The incumbent is a member of the Office of Faculty and Academic Support and reports directly to the Director of Faculty and Academic Support. A successful assistant is proactive, strategic, and organized so that they are able to balance a wide-range of responsibilities in the support of their assigned faculty and other academic offices as needed throughout the year.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma

  • At least 2-4 years prior experience in administrative support and\/or customer service roles

  • Experience with the practical application of routine office practices and techniques

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working with a wide range of individuals

  • Past experience with and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe

  • Must possess the ability to gain proficiency with other office and campus technologies (including GMS\/Workday, Concur, and Canvas).

Preferred Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree and previous experience in higher education or a law office environment

Pay Range:

The projectedsalary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$19.20 - $28.70

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
