Job summary

The American Crystal Sugar Company in Drayton, ND seeks an Engineering Superintendent to lead factory project management and engineering activities, including the 5-year capital plan and next year’s projects. You will oversee capital budgets, design, bidding, construction, and startup while guiding contractors and internal staff.

Requires a four-year engineering degree and 5–8 years in processing or heavy construction, with strong supervisory and communication skills to ensure on-time delivery

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in an engineering discipline with 5–8 years of processing industry or heavy construction management experience.
• Ability to plan and monitor projects with supervisory and communication skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and complete projects within established parameters.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.
• Supervises factory engineering projects and outside contracted projects; ensures projects meet company and insurance guidelines.
• Manages multi-million dollar capital projects and may oversee several projects simultaneously.
• Participates in short- and long-term strategic planning for factory capital projects and implements approved plans.
• Oversees capital projects including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, design, bidding, construction management and startup.
• Applies engineering knowledge to select methods and resources to complete projects; prioritizes tasks and delegates within project constraints.
• Develops project budgets and schedules; ensures adherence within established budgets.
• Identifies and participates in training programs for staff using completed engineering projects.
• Controls contractor activities on-site and ensures safety in accordance with regulations.
• Provides technical support and documentation to Capital Buyer during negotiations with contractors and equipment vendors; reviews bid packages.
• Develops and mentors engineering interns and co-op students; recommends hires that meet Company needs.
