Job summary

Partnership for Families, Children & Adults is seeking a facilities maintenance supervisor to oversee maintenance staff and operations in a nonprofit, residential setting in Chattanooga, TN. The role requires hands-on management of building systems, safety compliance, and a commitment to trauma-informed care within a mission-driven environment.

This in-person position requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible facilities maintenance experience.
  • Experience supervising maintenance staff.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization, healthcare, shelter, residential facility, or victim services program preferred.
  • Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, general construction) and safety compliance.

Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training or trade certification(s) preferred.
Experience
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible facilities maintenance experience.
  • Experience supervising maintenance staff.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization, healthcare, shelter, residential facility, or victim services program preferred.
Skills/Abilities
  • Experience managing contractors and service vendors.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management or work order/ticketing systems.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position (Note: reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in a confidential residential environment.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles preferred.
Knowledge or Certification(s)
  • Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general construction.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, building codes, and safety compliance.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Commercial maintenance certification(s) preferred.
  • Knowledge of ADA accessibility standards, emergency preparedness, or physical security systems is preferred.
