Job summary

Phillips 66 is seeking a Facility Technician / Coke Handling Operator at our Sulphur, LA midstream bulk facility. You will monitor coke conveyor deliveries, perform routine maintenance, conduct environmental checks, and enforce safety and regulatory requirements to ensure product quality and reliable operations.

Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Capable of climbing ladders and stairs 5–60 feet high
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather
  • Willing to rotate 12-hour shifts and be on call/overtime as needed

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Coke Conveyor delivery and receipts
  • Perform routine washing of coke spillage during downtime
  • Conduct environmental and regulatory checks for spills and seeps
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations at all times
  • Ensure quality and quantity of refined products/oils
  • Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts promptly
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly inventory reconciliation and regulatory reports
  • Respond to emergencies and participate in training and drills
  • Perform Lock Out/Tag Out and other safety permits as required
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers and assist training of new employees

The Facility Technician / Coke Handling Operator is responsible for maintaining and operating equipment and processes at our Midstream bulk handling facility in Sulphur, LA. The role will participate as an integral team member and will be a key contributor to the organization from a support capacity.

What You'll Do
  • Monitoring controls for Coke Conveyor delivery and receipts
  • Performing routine washing of coke spillage when not in the primary operation rotation
  • Performing environmental and regulatory checks (eliminating, containing and reporting all product seeps and spills)
  • Monitoring and enforcing all safety rules and regulations
  • Ensuring quality and quantity of refined products and/or crude oils
  • Identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts in a timely manner
  • Completing daily, weekly, monthly and annual inventory reconciliation including; agency and other required reports
  • Staying abreast of changes in operation requirements, policies and processes
  • Performing operational duties in accordance with the Operating and Procedures and Site Specific Procedures
  • Responding to emergencies, maintaining emergency equipment and participating in emergency response training and exercises
  • Completing mandated safety and regulatory training (computer-based & instructor led training)
  • Monitoring controls and establishing valve line-ups for pipeline delivery and receipts
  • Maintaining effective and professional relationships with customers and responding promptly to their needs
  • Performing environmental and regulatory checks (eliminating, containing and reporting all product seeps and spills)
  • Performing security and equipment facility rounds; minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions
  • Assisting with transport driver and new employee training
  • Performing Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work Permits, Excavation Permits, and Confined Space Entry permits for safe and effective execution of work
What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:
    • To climb various ladders and stairs to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance on equipment are a part of this position. The ladders and stairs typically range from 5 to 60 feet in height
    • To raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds
    • To walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain
    • To work outside in harsh weather conditions
    • To wear personal protective equipment, such as flame retardant clothing, eye protection, ear protection, steel-toed boots, hard hat, etc.
    • To work an 12 hour rotating shift
    • To be on call, work overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays on an as-needed basis
    • To work alone a high percentage of the time
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
  • Associate's Degree or higher in process technology or other petroleum industry degree
  • 1 or more years of experience in the petroleum industry
  • Ability to operate front end loaders and skid steers
  • Knowledge of process controls and oil movements
  • Knowledge of P&ID drawings
  • Knowledge of refined products and/or crude oil quality specifications
  • Knowledge of mechanical and rotating equipment
Compensation Range

This position has a base salary range of $70,200-$123,200.

Midstream

The Phillips 66 Midstream business is a safe, reliable, and trusted provider for the movement, storage, gathering, and processing of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. Our capabilities include extensive natural gas gathering and processing operations, enhancing our wellhead-to-market strategy. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
