Job summary

United Aviate Academy in Goodyear, AZ seeks a Maintenance Technician I to complete daily work orders, perform preventive maintenance, and repair building systems across residential, commercial, and institutional facilities.

Requires basic skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC, plus the ability to use hand and power tools safely. Valid driver's license and good communication with staff, residents, vendors, and management are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–2 years of general maintenance or construction experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of: Plumbing, Electrical systems, Carpentry, Painting, HVAC fundamentals.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, residents, vendors, and management.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily work orders in a timely, professional manner.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Repair and replace light fixtures, lamps, switches, outlets, and ballasts.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs, including unclogging drains, repairing faucets, replacing toilets, and fixing leaks.
• Complete minor carpentry work such as repairing doors, locks, cabinets, drywall, and ceiling tiles.
• Paint, patch, and perform general building repairs.
• Assist with HVAC preventive maintenance, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and monitoring equipment performance.
• Assist with evaporative cooler maintenance and seasonal startup/shutdown.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as assigned.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
• Maintain clean mechanical rooms, storage areas, and maintenance shops.
• Operate maintenance equipment and power tools safely.
• Maintain accurate work order documentation and report completed work.
• Identify maintenance concerns and notify supervisors of potential safety hazards.
• Follow all OSHA safety regulations, company policies, and applicable building codes.
• Assist outside contractors as needed.
• Participate in after-hours or emergency call-outs when required.
