HLBMA LLC operates a 24/7 battery manufacturing facility in Ellabell, GA. We seek a Facility Technician to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain critical utility and environmental systems, including mechanical and electrical components, to keep production continuous and compliant with safety standards.

You will perform preventive maintenance on chillers, boilers, AHUs/RTUs, and related equipment, read schematics, and apply lockout/tagout procedures as required to ensure safe operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational certificate or Associate degree preferred.
  • Boiler Operator License or boiler-related certification preferred where applicable.
  • HVAC or mechanical maintenance certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently operate and maintain chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, and piping/controls.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on boiler systems per SOP.
  • Operate and maintain compressed air systems and air handling units (AHUs/RTUs).
  • Inspect and maintain dust/fume collection systems and respond to alarms.
  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs to diagnose faults.

Job description

The Facility Technician independently operates, inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains critical facility utility and environmental systems supporting continuous 24/7 battery manufacturing operations. Systems include chillers, boilers, cooling towers, compressed air, HVAC, pumps, and environmental control systems, with responsibility for both mechanical and electrical components. Facility Technicians perform assigned work with minimal supervision, respond effectively to abnormal operating conditions, and apply working electrical knowledge to diagnose and resolve issues safely in a highly regulated industrial setting.

Responsibilities
  • Independently operate and maintain chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, and associated piping and controls
  • Perform routine inspections, operating checks, and preventive maintenance on boiler systems, including blowdowns, safety device checks, and basic water chemistry monitoring per SOP
  • Operate and maintain compressed air systems, including air compressors, air dryers, filters, receivers, and distribution equipment
  • Independently inspect, operate, and maintain air handling units (AHUs) and rooftop units (RTUs), including filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication, and basic mechanical adjustments
  • Operate and support dust collectors and fume collection systems, including inspections, filter maintenance, and alarm response
  • Conduct routine equipment rounds and record operating data, including electrical parameters
  • Apply working electrical knowledge to monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical components of utility equipment, including motors, control panels, sensors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and power supplies
  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and control logic to diagnose faults
  • Perform basic electrical tasks including checking voltage and current readings, resetting approved controls, replacing fuses or simple components where qualified, and supporting lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for electrical systems
  • Recognize and respond to electrical-related alarms or abnormal conditions, including overloads, phase issues, or grounding faults, and elevate complex electrical problems appropriately
  • Troubleshoot common mechanical and electrical alarms and faults on boilers, chillers, compressors, HVAC, and environmental systems
  • Troubleshoot common airflow, temperature, and ventilation issues
  • Recognize abnormal conditions and elevate per procedure
  • Coordinate escalation to supervision, the Shift Lead, or vendors for complex or safety‑critical issues
  • Perform assigned tasks on Safety-Related Processes (SRP) and Critical Environmental Safety Systems (CESS) strictly in accordance with approved SOPs and required PPE
  • Consistently comply with all PPE requirements, LOTO including electrical isolation, confined space, hot work, and electrical safety procedures
  • Support audits, inspections, and safety initiatives
  • Complete work orders, inspection logs, and maintenance documentation accurately in the CMMS and Equipment Management System (EMS)
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Facility Operators and assist in developing their technical capabilities
  • Maintain housekeeping and safe work conditions in assigned areas
  • Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Employee Status

This position supports essential manufacturing operations. The role requires availability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, and to respond to operational issues, emergency events, and emergency call‑ins when it is safe to do so. Team members are expected to demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability in accordance with company attendance policies.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Vocational certificate or Associate degree in mechanical, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred
  • Boiler Operator License or boiler‑related certification preferred where applicable
  • HVAC or mechanical maintenance certifications preferred
Experience
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment required; previous 24/7 manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated electrical knowledge and experience required, including practical work with electrical components in industrial equipment such as motors, controls, panels, or power distribution
  • Basic troubleshooting of electrical issues and understanding of electrical safety principles required
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and multimeter readings required
  • Demonstrated experience with at least two of the following systems required: boilers and thermal systems, chillers and chilled water, cooling towers, air compressors and dryers, AHUs and RTUs, or dust and fume collection
  • Experience in battery, semiconductor, chemical, or high‑tech manufacturing environments with strict environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements preferred
  • Demonstrated reliable work history and consistent attendance in prior employment

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to properly and regularly utilize required PPE for periods of up to 12 hours, including safety glasses, steel‑toed shoes, nitrile gloves, ear protection, cleanroom suit, and respiratory protection as required
  • Must be able to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift, push, and pull materials or equipment for periods of up to 12 hours
  • Must be able to repeatedly stoop, twist, and bend for periods of up to 12 hours
  • Must be able to repeatedly reach overhead for periods of up to 12 hours
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems
Work Environment
  • Work may occur in mechanical rooms, utility areas, rooftops, or other industrial environments
  • Work may involve handling or working in proximity to hazardous materials and regulated industrial chemicals
  • Exposure to noise, heat, chemical vapors, dust, mechanical equipment, and other controlled substances may occur depending on system location and process assignment
  • Strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements is mandatory
  • Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas
  • Required PPE may include respirators, chemical‑resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment
