Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is seeking a Part-Time Facility Security Guard for the CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence program in Columbus, Ohio. The role covers weekend shifts from 10:30am to 7:00pm with responsibilities including resident entrance checks and patrols to ensure safety.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, secure work experience in security, and a valid Ohio driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School degree, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Previous security experience preferred.
• Experience working with a diverse population preferred.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet LSS insurance standards.

Responsibilities

• Verify entrance for residents at side door, primarily during curfew.
• Perform internal inspections of the CHOICES' facility to ensure security and report violations.
• Exterior inspections of CHOICES's facility via cameras and report safety concerns.
• Accompany Shelter Advocate and Case Management staff to de-escalate incidents and threats.
• Respond to security concerns according to CHOICES/LSS policies.
• Maintain daily log of incidents and shift activity; communicate issues to on-coming shift.
• Escort staff, volunteers, and visitors to and from vehicles.
• Maintain professional demeanor with residents, donors, and staff.
• Follow CHOICES policies and procedures; refer to LSS handbook.

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Facility Security Guard for CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence in Columbus, Ohio. LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence has been the sole resource for victims seeking shelter in Franklin County for more than four decades, providing a Temporary Emergency Shelter, 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, DV Counseling, Legal Advocacy, Peer Support Groups and more.

What will I do as a Facility Security Guard with Lutheran Social Services?

• Verify entrance for residents at side door, primarily during curfew.
• Perform internal inspections of the CHOICES' facility to ensure the security of the building and to check for any security concerns. Communicates any violations via the Unusual Incident Report procedure and informs direct supervisor.
• Performs exterior inspections of the CHOICES's facility via cameras to ensure the security of the building and to check for any safety concerns. Communicates any violations via the Unusual Incident Report procedure and informs direct supervisor.
• Accompany Shelter Advocate and Case Management staff to de-escalate any incidents and/or threats of violence utilizing techniques provided from staff training.
• Responds to security concerns according to CHOICES/Lutheran Social Services policies and procedures.
• Utilize daily log to document incidents, occurrences, and shift activity. Submit to manager and security team prior to end of shift. Proactively communicates any issues or concerns to on-coming shift Security Officer.
• Accompany staff when directed to conduct searches according to CHOICES policies & procedures, for Reasonable Suspicion.
• Escorts staff, volunteers, visitors, and other persons to and from vehicles as requested or necessary.
• Always maintains professional demeanor with residents, donors, volunteers, and other staff.
• Follow all CHOICES policies and procedures, refer to the LSS handbook.

Requirements for a Facility Security Guard with Lutheran Social Services:

• High School degree, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
• Previous experience in a security role preferred.
• Previous experience working with a diverse population preferred.
• Previous experience in a residential social service setting preferred.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required.
