Job summary

Smiths Detection in Edgewood, MD is seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer to administer security measures for classified and unclassified contracts under NISPOM and 32 CFR Part 117.

You will serve as the primary security contact, manage training, access control, badge issuance, and ongoing compliance, while coordinating with the FSO, ISSM/ISSO, and local agencies.

This role requires a US security clearance and hands-on experience with DISS, NISS, NBIS and related security systems.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years’ experience in a government-secured environment as an AFSO.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance; SSI access and TSA vetting required within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Serves as primary point of contact for security related employee/site issues and backup point of contact for DCSA.
• Receive, generate, classify, mail, reproduce, store, transmit, ship and destroy all classified material and maintain applicable records as prescribed by 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM Rule.
• Review incoming DD-254s and ensure the facility’s compliance with the applicable security requirements.
• Complete and submit self-inspection in NISS.
• Provide security training to all site employees at least annually.
• Maintain security bulletin boards and manage badge issuance/deactivation.
