Job summary

Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for a Safety Manager at our Brookneal Oriented Strand Board (OSB) facility, located in Gladys, Virginia. The Safety Manager will provide safety leadership and strategic direction to the facility through PBM and guiding principles.

They will drive safety excellence, ensure training and readiness, and manage compliance with OSHA, state, local standards, and workers' compensation.

Qualifications

Safety leadership experience in an industrial, military, or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction to establish and achieve a meaningful safety vision and effective strategies.
Mentor and develop direct and indirect reports to build skills and team performance.
Promote a safety culture aligned with the Path to Zero Safety Strategy.
Drive safety initiatives, training, and programs across the facility.
Lead risk assessment methods to identify and mitigate hazards.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations, including workers' compensation.
Develop and implement prevention and recovery controls and recommend safety-driven design changes.
Oversee safe execution of capital projects and change management.
Identify safety training needs and drive continuous improvement via audits and investigations.
