Job summary

A leading company in Ohio is seeking a dedicated safety professional to develop and implement health and safety programs. The role involves conducting audits, training employees, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations to promote a positive safety culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health and safety programs in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
  • Deliver safety training programs for employees.

Job description

Additionally, the FSC will assist in facility outage scheduling, planning/scheduling projects, and budget planning for safety within the plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Program Development and Implementation:
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain written health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  3. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  4. Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientations and ongoing refresher courses.
  5. Establish and maintain an effective incident investigation and reporting system.
  6. Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Control

  1. Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments to identify and evaluate workplace hazards.
  2. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety controls and make necessary adjustments.
  3. Oversee the safe operation of machinery and equipment, including lockout/tagout procedures in our Injection Mold areas.
  4. Evaluate ergonomics of workstations and implement ergonomic improvements.

Compliance and Reporting

  1. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and other relevant data.
  2. Prepare and submit required safety reports to regulatory agencies.
  3. Stay up to date on changes in safety regulations and best practices.
  4. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to waste disposal and pollution prevention.
  5. Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.

Safety Culture and Communication

  1. Promote a positive safety culture through effective communication, training, and employee engagement.
  2. Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  3. Investigate and analyze accident/incident reports and near miss reports.
  4. Communicate safety information and updates to all employees.
  5. Work collaboratively with management and employees to address safety concerns.
  6. Lead the safety committee.

Emergency Response

  1. Act as the primary point of contact for emergency situations.
  2. Coordinate emergency response activities, including evacuations, first aid, and fire suppression.
  3. Maintain and inspect emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits.

  • Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that fosters effective and cooperative relationships with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership teams.
  • Participate in process improvement and problem-solving utilizing continuous improvement methodologies and support the E&P program.
  • Recognize and act on incidents and safety risks. Practice and enforce safe work habits and promote them throughout the organization.
