Senior Project Manager – Manufacturing Facilities

Job Type: Full-Time / Contract-to-Hire

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Manufacturing Facilities to lead complex industrial projects supporting manufacturing operations. This is a highly hands‑on role for a project leader who understands the realities of working inside active manufacturing environments and can successfully manage projects from concept and planning through execution, commissioning, and closeout.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of project management experience in manufacturing, industrial facilities, or heavy industrial construction, along with strong technical knowledge and the ability to work directly with plant leadership, manufacturing engineers, maintenance teams, contractors, and equipment vendors.

You will play a critical role in delivering facility expansions, modernization initiatives, process planning projects, and power infrastructure upgrades while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, budget, and minimizing production downtime.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead end-to-end project execution for manufacturing facility developments, expansions, renovations, and modernization projects
  • Manage projects from concept/design through construction, installation, commissioning, and closeout
  • Partner with manufacturing engineers and operations teams on process planning, production workflows, equipment placement, and facility layouts
  • Lead power infrastructure and electrical improvement projects, including service upgrades, generators, backup power, and energy distribution
  • Work directly with plant managers, maintenance teams, production personnel, and engineering stakeholders
  • Conduct regular site walks and field assessments within active manufacturing facilities
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, milestones, resources, risks, and deliverables
  • Coordinate contractors, engineering firms, equipment suppliers, vendors, and internal project teams
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational, and construction issues in real time
  • Develop execution strategies that minimize manufacturing disruption and production downtime
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable safety, regulatory, quality, and industry standards
  • Provide technical and project leadership throughout implementation
  • Support commissioning, startup, turnover, documentation, and project closeout activities
  • Communicate project status, risks, schedule impacts, and recommendations to plant and client leadership
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline
  • 7+ years of project management experience in manufacturing, industrial facilities, or heavy commercial/industrial construction
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification
  • Proven experience managing complex manufacturing facility or industrial capital projects
  • Demonstrated experience working hands‑on in active manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, plant safety, production constraints, and downtime considerations
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process flow diagrams, electrical schematics, and equipment specifications
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to make sound, timely decisions in fast‑paced manufacturing environments
  • Comfortable spending significant time on‑site within operating manufacturing facilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing sectors, such as:
  • Automotive
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Food & Beverage
  • Electronics
  • Industrial Manufacturing
  • Distribution & Logistics
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, and manufacturing systems
  • Experience with industrial building systems including:

  • Working knowledge of NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and applicable industry standards
  • Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and planning software
What Makes This Opportunity Unique

This is more than a traditional project management position. You will be on the manufacturing floor, working directly with plant operations and technical teams to solve problems and deliver projects that directly impact production.

We are looking for a project leader who can move comfortably between project strategy, technical discussions, field execution, and plant operations—someone who understands that successful manufacturing projects require both strong project management discipline and practical industrial experience.
