Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma and six years of full-time skilled experience in building operating systems and facilities.
• Apprenticeship as an electrician may substitute for four years of required experience.
• Trade school attendance is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participates in design, layout and planning of remodeling and repair projects affecting County buildings.
• Estimates materials, tools and equipment; prepares cost estimates.
• Performs skilled and semi-skilled craft work in mechanical, HVAC, electrical, security, and related systems.
• Inspects boilers, HVAC equipment, generators, pumps and motors; troubleshoots and repairs.
• Welds and braze piping; fabricates metal elements for repair.
• Tests and treats water in HVAC systems; recharges refrigeration systems.
• Installs doors, hardware, locks, and security devices; basic rough and finish carpentry.
• Maintains electronic information, communication and control systems; sensors and controllers.
